Question Authority

Have you noticed that every time you hear late breaking news it’s always wrong?

And it’s not only the news. Just last weekend we were warned by NOAH on my weather radio that a winter storm warning was being put into place and we should expect twelve or more inches of snow, white out conditions… I mean this was the worst storm of the winter and it wasn’t winter, it was the middle of April!

We got maybe two inches of snow that melted in a few hours… no white outs or dangerous road conditions.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t believe the “authorities” anymore. Everything is exaggerated, emotionalized and at the end of the day, you find out it wasn’t at all what they said. The facts are always very different…

My advice is to start taking everything with a grain of salt.

I’m not going to react anymore to any “latest big thing”, until I get all the facts. I’m tired of having my chain pulled for no reason… From what I can see, a lot of people are starting to feel the way I do. I’m tired of hearing everybody cry “wolf” only to find out it wasn’t even a dog… it was a mouse!

Who benefits from all the unnecessary emotion, stress and anxiety caused by all the sensationalism?

Follow the money: Who advertises the most on the network news shows? Did I tell you that 118 million prescriptions for antidepressants were written in the US in 2005? (the most recent year there are statistics available for)

What’s the most popular way to handle anxiety and stress?

It sure isn’t taking a walk!

Something Is Wrong!

Something is wrong

When 1 out of 3 people have to take prescription drugs in order to deal with their day to day lives… on drugs just to get through the day.

If you then add caffine, alchohol and illegal drugs and you’re probably looking at 2 out of 3 people using some form of mind altering substance just to cope with their personal experience of life!

Why are they using mind altering substances?

I believe they have supressed their natural passion and have become so disconnected from what brings them real happiness that they use drugs as a substitute.

The problem is getting worse not better.

The majority of people have no idea how the process which gives us our individual “experience of life” operates. Most don’t know there is such a thing. They actually believe life is a series of unexpected surprises you have to deal with or adjust to. They approach life like its some kind of trial and error experiment, hit the wall, crash and burn and then give up!

Because they haven’t been introduced to the “process” they don’t realize there is a “process”… which they can Master.

Life is not a chaotic, hit or miss experiment! It’s actually based upon a fairly easy to understand prime directive.

Are You Broken?

You try hard. Everything you do, you think is right… but for some reason, things fall apart or become tangled. At the end of the day your energy has been drained and another day of walking through a fog, trying to keep all the balls in the air has left you wondering:

Is it possible for me to be “broken”?

The answer is yes.

I should say, however, when you reach the point of wondering if you are broken you’re most likely already on the mend. The point when you were really broken was when you didn’t question the ride on the merry-go-round your life had become. Assuming that chaos, turmoil, drama and things never working out is what life is supposed to be is the broken part.

What actually breaks?

To put it simply, nothing is actually broken. The “process”, which is the main operating principle governing your experience of life, is working perfectly. It always does. It’s your expectations which are out of sync with your true intent (what you really believe, not what you think you believe) and the subsequent decisions and actions you are taking. In other words, there’s nothing wrong with the recipe…

You’re just using the wrong ingredients.

Very Unhappy People

I was doing research for some upcoming radio interviews. I found statistics that surprised me and bolsters a theory I’ve had for some time:

People in the US are unhappy and stressed-out with the reality of their day-to-day lives… and an astonishing number of them are trying to numb the pain rather than confront the cause.

I’m referring to the current users of prescription anti-depressants and the estimated number of alcoholics! There are 54 million people on prozac and 15 million on lexapro. That’s 69 million people taking anti-depressants… and that’s only two of the drugs that are currently available. Add to that the current estimate that 4% of the population qualify as alcoholics…which is another 12 million people.

That’s 81 million people medicating themselves with anti-depressants or alcohol.

I’m not even including “illegal drugs”. Who knows how many millions more that will add the the total. The point I’m making here is that virtually one out of every three adults is so unhappy and stressed out that they must have some kind of medication in order to cope with it!.

They cope instead of making changes.

I maintain that this is a ticking time bomb. You can’t just bury how you feel under layers of mood altering substances. You’re just putting off dealing with the problem… that is until it turns into some kind of chronic illness. You can’t bury stress with drugs.

Too many people deny the truth.

They are unhappy. They are stressed… and they are turning themselves into emotional zombies! A pill or drink is never going to change the day-to-day effects of your attitudes, opinions and beliefs. You can temporarily silence the feelings of panic, dismay, fear, uncertainty and doubt.

But you will never get back the time you’ve lost avoiding the real reason for your stress: How you feel about yourself and the subsequent decisions and expectations that flow from that “truth”.

Why Life Coaching?

What made me become a Life Coach?

I came to the realization that the good things and experiences which have made my life so fulfilling didn’t happen by accident. It was the result of doing things in a certain way. A series of repeatable steps which could be applied to accomplishing anything.

I also realized that my greatest personal joy always comes from the feeling I get when someone “remembers” that anything is possible! That they can change their lives and that the best years of their life are beginning right now.

What it comes down to is: I get much joy from helping someone “see” things that they didn’t “see” before. I know it doesn’t take a great amount of change to transform your life. I maintain only one or two percent is going to make a big difference. Getting someone to “see” that can change their life forever.

Probably the most important thing I do is being someone who takes you seriously.

How many people in your life believe in your goals and dreams the way you do? From my perspetive as a Life Coach, I can do more to help change the lives of people than any other activity I can imagine… and for each person who’s life changes and moves in a positive direction, that life becomes another example, that it is indeed possible for anyone, who is ready to take themselves seriously, to turn their day-to-day life into the foundation of the next great chapter of their life story.

I want to help them write that chapter!
