Completing The Task At Hand
Completing the job at hand may sound like a cliche — but failure to do so can cause you to “spin your wheels” and not get any traction.
Let me explain:
Lets’ say you’re working toward something you desire — which requires a certain task to be completed. You begin the task but somewhere along the way you stop before it’s completed.
Maybe you became distracted by something or just ran out of the energy and determination to complete the task. So it goes unfinished — but you continue to carry it along as an — “I need to do this” — albatross around your neck.
An unfinished task is like a memory that has no resolution
it continues to replay itself in the theatre of your mind and require energy until that point in time it becomes resolved.
An unfinished task is an energy vampire!
Of course there are certain tasks that shouldn’t be completed:
When you can see the “end of the tunnel” and realize that completing the task is a waste of time. This is actually a completed task and has been put to rest.
Or tasks that are “in-process”:
A task you begin that requires something to take place in your life — a situation which needs to be resolved — or an epiphany — that gives you new insight and renewed inspiration to complete the task.
If you pay attention to your inner voice you’ll be able to recognize when this type of task needs to continue through it’s gestating period. This type of task is not draining your energy because it is still in the process of being completed — even though it may not be ready to physically manifest itself.
The energy vampire is always the uncompleted task you know you need to finish.
The only real excuse you have for not completing it — is you got distracted and it’s still waiting for you get it done.
Clear out the “closet of your mind” and get rid of those unfinished tasks — by getting them done! You’ll be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment — feeling less overwhelmed — and have a lot more energy!
